Breeding Light & Buff Sussex
 & Blue Laced Red Wyandottes

Welcome to my Website!

I am located on a farmstead near Georgetown, Minnesota.

The breeds I am currently working with are Light Sussex, Buff Sussex & Blue Laced Red Wyandottes.

I do sell hatching eggs.  Click the link to view my web album of How I Package for Shipping.

At present I do not ship day old chicks but am considering it for the future.

I do sell started birds and will do straight run incubating orders.  These would be local pick-up only at this time.

I am an empty nester who has filled my empty nest with chickens and am loving it. While I have recently started breeding specific breeds I have had chickens on and off for 20+ years. Mostly just good layers. Leghorns, RIR, Barred Rocks. During the summer of 2008 a predator started picking off my hens. I got down to 1 hen and 1 roo and my oldest daughter, who was living here at the time said "I know mom lets hatch some eggs!" So we tried a few unsuccessful homemade set ups and eventually ended up at BackyardChickens.com where I was introduced to a world of chicken breeds I never knew existed!

I went in search of the 'Ideal Backyard Chicken'. For me, that meant a breed that possesed the following traits:

Hardy I live in MN so they would need to be able to withstand our harsh winters.

Good Egg Layers Why do we really have chickens? So they can make us our breakfast!

Sizeable carcass for meat If I end up with an ornery rooster that needs to go to freezer camp then I might as well have a good meal out of the deal!

Pretty to look at If they're going to be running around my yard I might as well have some nice eye-candy!

Somewhat Rare to make it easier to sell culls & hatching eggs.

Close to the American Poultry Association Standard of Perfection
Out of respect for the breed and also in case I decide to show.

I decided both the Wyandottes & the Sussex possess all of these qualities. And thus it began...
